Is it really May? This year is flying by and we have been busy at Custom Cakes. Here is a baby shower cake we made for a really cute couple. They are expecting their first child,a girl, and they asked us to design a cake using pink, yellow, and lavender...oh, and make it big because the guest count will be around 300! Here's what we came up with:
The blocks were 8"cubes and we also made a matching layer cake because they needed additional servings.
Here is one of the wedding cakes from last week. The reception was held at Vic's on the River. I love the modern look of this cake. The different tier heights make for an interesting look and it's decorated with our sugarpaste roses and hydrangea, of course:
This groom's cake was made for a very sweet couple. Both bride and groom were in their early 80's...nice to know you're never too old for love! The groom requested a Viking ship and we were happy to oblige.
Mike McCarey taught us how to make and use modeling chocolate and it has really enabled us to do things not possible with fondant alone. Ashlee did a great job as always!
Thanks for looking!
I so wish I could've taken Mike's class! That structure is amazing!

The Wedding cake you created is simply beautiful. I really like how you positioned the flowers on the side of the cake as opposed to the top. I love wedding cakes that have simple design, but are offset with a dynamic arrangement of flowers.

Is the water modeling chocolate? How did you make it look so real? That's cool! I'm definitely planning on coming to this class!
