International Cake Exploration Societe is an organization of sugar artists/cake decorators, 4000+ strong. The goal of ICES is to promote, encourage, and teach/learn the artistry of sugar. I have been a member of this wonderful organization for 15 years. Alot of my cake decorating skills as well as some of my best friends have come about because of my involvement with ICES.
Once a year ICES holds a convention and sugar artists from all over the world come together to share techniques and learn from one another. Most bring display pieces to exhibit. This years convention was held in San Diego, CA. What a wonderful city and what a wonderful time!
Here are a few pictures from the convention:
Ok, so I had to throw in a picture of San Diego. Who knew palm trees could grow so tall...and the blue skies? Gorgeous! Oh, the best part...temps were in the high 60's and low 70's...low humidity. Made this Savannah girl almost weep with joy.
Three very talented and beautiful ladies I'm pleased to call friends. Becky Rink owner of About the Cake, Debbie Goard owner of Debbie Does Cakes, and Lisa Bugeja owner of Flour Confections. All are incredibly talented cake artists.
The lovely and talented Sharon Zambito owner of SugarEd Productions and Debbie Goard of Debbie Does Cakes.
Jacqueline Butler owner of Petalsweet in San Diego and Tracy Auseklis owner of the Buttercream Studio in San, Francisco.
It was wonderful to reconnect with friends, meet new people who share your passion for sugar arts and learn a few things along the way! After 5 days in the wonderful San Diego weather I'm rested and ready for the busy fall schedule.
Thanks for looking!
